[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Korean Language Education Center at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology is conducting a 'Korean Language Study Abroad Program' for Vietnamese students.
In recent years, as Korean cultural content has gained global attention and popularity, the demand for education among young people who want to learn Korean language and culture has also increased.
Vietnam, where the Hallyu market has shown high growth rates annually, selected Korean as the first foreign language last year, following English, Chinese, Japanese, French, and Russian.
Since the 11th of this month until June 3rd, the Korean Language Education Center is operating an 'Online Korean Language Course' for 25 local Vietnamese students over 8 weeks to improve basic Korean skills and understanding of Korean culture.
The education is conducted as real-time online classes via Zoom. Students take 2 hours daily on weekdays with Korean language instructors and professional interpreters, covering Korean pronunciation, grammar, basic conversation, and understanding of Korean culture in an elementary Korean language course.
The students enrolled are those who will participate in the 6-month short-term intensive language study abroad program organized by the Korean Language Education Center at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology in the upcoming summer semester.
The education was prepared to help students acquire the basic knowledge and virtues necessary for living in Korean society before the study abroad program.
Director Kim Tae-kyung said, "The curriculum was structured to systematically learn Korean according to the students' proficiency level," adding, "It will be an opportunity for local students to deepen their understanding of the Korean language and culture."
