Serious Contamination After Panel Cleaning... Concerns Over Damage to Goheung Rice Image
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Park Jin-kwon (50), a preliminary candidate for Goheung County Governor who challenged the election aiming to eradicate regional division forces, announced on the 20th, "I oppose the installation of floating solar panels, which have recently emerged as the main cause of inland water pollution."
Recently, a serious water pollution incident occurred after cleaning the floating solar panels installed in Haechang Bay, Goheung, causing surrounding fish to die, which led farmers to stage a collective protest.
Candidate Park Jin-kwon stated, "Floating solar power construction is also being promoted in the freshwater lake of Goheung Bay recently, but Haechang Bay and Goheung Bay are winter migratory bird habitats, so bird droppings inevitably accumulate on the panels, making it highly likely that strong detergents will be used," and criticized, "Approving the installation of floating solar panels without resolving this issue is a wrong administrative action."
Haechang Bay and the freshwater lake of Goheung Bay are used for agricultural water, so there is a view that neglecting this could cause significant damage to the image of eco-friendly Goheung rice produced there and may lead to harm to farmers.
Meanwhile, candidate Park Jin-kwon was born in Goheung-eup, Goheung County, graduated from Goheungdong Elementary School, Gwangju Dongsin High School, and Chosun University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He served as the president of Jeonnam JC in 2010, deputy head of the central election campaign organization for President Lee Jae-myung, and was a member of the 11th Jeollanam-do Provincial Council.
