[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch held a love-sharing event on the 20th to celebrate the 42nd Disabled Persons Day by inviting families of people with severe disabilities to Lotte Cinema for a movie screening.
This event was organized to provide an escape from the frustrating daily life to people with disabilities who had been further isolated due to social distancing measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
About 50 people, including individuals with severe disabilities and their families selected by the Gwangsan-gu Disabled Welfare Center, attended and watched the warm family movie "Please Take Care of Mrs. Malim," starring actor Kim Young-ok, at Lotte Cinema. After the movie screening, they also took a walk around Suwan Lake Park together with volunteers from the Lotte Outlet Suwan Charlotte Volunteer Group.
Since signing a business agreement with the Gwangsan-gu Disabled Welfare Center in April 2016, Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch has continuously supported and volunteered for social awareness improvement and the creation of an inclusive society for people with disabilities by producing braille books, providing daily necessities, and offering food services.
In recognition of these efforts, the branch manager of Gwangju Suwan was selected as an outstanding volunteer and received a commendation from the Gwangsan-gu Office of Gwangju during the 42nd Disabled Persons Day ceremony held at the Gwangsan-gu Disabled Welfare Center on the same day.
Lee Chung-yeol, manager of Gwangju Suwan Branch, said, "We chose a movie for this event to provide joy to families who went out for the first time in a while," and added, "We will continue to show interest and carry out various activities to foster a community spirit of living together."
