[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Lee Young-eun, a graduate of the Department of Leisure Sports at Dongseo University, won first place at the "15th Korea Yachting Association President's Cup National Yacht Competition and National Team Selection" and was selected as a national representative.
Lee Young-eun was selected as the female national representative for "Formula Kite," a newly established official event at the Hangzhou Asian Games in September 2022, and proudly wore the Taegeuk mark.
"Formula Kite" is growing as a central marine sport, having been newly added as an official event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Despite being a less popular sport domestically and facing difficult conditions, Lee Young-eun has continued her challenges and consistently achieved results in various domestic and international competitions.
She maintained first place for several years in national kiteboarding competitions and became the Asian champion in the freestyle category at the 2018 Thailand Kiteboarding Championships.
Lee Young-eun said, "I am grateful to the Busan Yacht Association, Dongseo University, Korea Kiteboarding Association, Dadaepo Marine Leisure Sports Center, and others who have supported me both materially and spiritually despite the difficult environment. I want to be remembered as a representative athlete of Busan."
