Jeonggwan-eup, Community Security Council, and Korea Polytechnics East Busan Campus Unite
Junggwan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan has signed a public-private-academic agreement to launch a project aimed at improving the vocational skills of vulnerable groups. [Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Jeonggwan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan has embarked on a job creation project for vulnerable residents. Resident organizations and local universities have joined forces.
On the 19th, Jeonggwan-eup Mayor Kim Jong-cheon, along with Choi Jin-ho, chairman of the Jeonggwan-eup Community Security Council, signed a business agreement with Hwang Seon-gu, dean of Korea Polytechnic University Dongbusan Campus, to enhance the vocational skills of vulnerable groups and expand employment support.
The agreement aims to share and utilize local human and material infrastructure to eliminate welfare blind spots and promote employment stability.
Mayor Kim Jong-cheon explained the background, saying, “This was pursued with the goal of building a healthy local community.”
▲ Jeonggwan-eup will oversee the overall village welfare projects and provide project funding. ▲ The Jeonggwan-eup Community Security Council will identify and connect households facing employment crises and those wishing to receive vocational training. ▲ Korea Polytechnic University Dongbusan Campus will be responsible for vocational skill enhancement education for the referred households. Additionally, it will support employment placement and provide school facilities during the operation of Jeonggwan-eup village welfare projects.
The Dongbusan Campus of this university located in Jeonggwan-eup offers departments such as ▲ Convergence Machinery, ▲ Green Energy Facilities, ▲ Smart Electricity, ▲ Smart Elevator Systems, and ▲ Smart Electric Vehicles, operating all courses completely free of charge to improve the vocational skills of employment-vulnerable groups.
Dean Hwang Seon-gu said, “We hope to nurture technical talent within the region and link it to job creation so that households facing employment crises can become truly self-reliant,” adding, “We will actively engage with local governments and community organizations to establish a successful public-private-academic collaboration model.”
