[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jung-wan] Jeong Seong-ho, a close aide of Lee Jae-myung, former Democratic Party presidential candidate (Standing Advisor), criticized the Democratic Party's Strategic Nomination Management Committee's decision to exclude former party leader Song Young-gil and lawmaker Park Ju-min from the pool of Seoul mayoral candidates, calling it "too cowardly."

On the 20th, Jeong posted on his Facebook, "I must now speak out," adding, "I cannot tolerate behavior that disregards even the most basic principles and common sense, ignoring fundamental fairness and justice." Jeong has maintained a close relationship with Advisor Lee Jae-myung (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 18) since their time at the Judicial Research and Training Institute.

Jeong criticized, "I cannot tolerate behavior that disregards even basic fairness and justice," and asked, "What future can there be if one pursues only political survival and factional interests to guarantee it?"

He emphasized, "I have always tried to practice parliamentary principles of dialogue, compromise, concession, and negotiation, listening carefully within the party to maintain balance," adding, "I have always been cautious not to harbor selfish motives. I was not servile or obsessed with positions."

On the previous day (19th), the Democratic Party Nomination Management Committee decided to exclude former leader Song and lawmaker Park, who had declared their candidacy for Seoul mayor. In response, former leader Song said, "This is effectively giving up on the June 1 local elections and will be a self-destructive act that destroys the Democratic Party."
