[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] On the 19th, Kim Soo-young, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, announced that he requested support for a practice room and changing room for the Seo-gu Women's Choir during a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 303rd extraordinary meeting.
The Seo-gu Women's Choir, established in 1999 based on the "Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Women's Choir," has performed for 23 years at events such as the Seo-gu Citizens' Day ceremony, Gwangju Choir Festival, and small concerts, greatly contributing to fostering the emotions of the residents and promoting local culture and arts.
Councilor Kim pointed out the inadequate treatment of the Seo-gu Women's Choir, which has contributed to cultural and artistic volunteer work for 23 years, and proposed that a practice room and changing room be provided in the complex community center to be completed this year.
He also suggested the formation and operation plan of a silver choir to help local seniors overcome social isolation through cultural programs.
Councilor Kim said, "I was really surprised to hear that the Seo-gu Women's Choir, which has contributed to cultural and artistic volunteer work for the residents for 23 years, does not have a practice room or changing room," adding, "We need to reflect on whether we have unilaterally demanded only dedication and service without proper treatment for cultural and artistic volunteers, and I hope the relevant departments will actively consider measures to improve their treatment."
