"To Become a Warm Complex Cultural Space" ... Oh Gyuseok, Gijang County Governor, Visits and Inspects Gijang Library On the afternoon of the 19th, Oh Gyuseok, the mayor of Gijang County, visited Gijang Library to check on its operational status.

Gijang Library consists of the main building and the Kkum Namu Children's Library. The main building has a total floor area of 2,091㎡ and spans from one basement floor to three above-ground floors. The internal facilities include ▲a audiovisual room ▲a general reference room ▲a digital reference room ▲men's and women's reading rooms ▲a senior citizens' room ▲a book cafe ▲and a preservation storage.


The Kkum Namu Children's Library has a total floor area of 660㎡ and spans from the first to the third floor above ground, consisting of ▲a children's reference room ▲a family reading room ▲a lifelong education room ▲and a nursing room.


Since its opening in 2003, the library has contributed to satisfying the knowledge and information needs of local residents, promoting various reading culture events and lifelong education programs, and has established itself as a community cultural complex space where residents participate together.


As an educational and cultural space in the region, the library continuously promotes various projects to expand the reading culture base, including ▲diverse reading culture events to spread the culture of reading ▲collection of the latest information materials to bridge the information gap ▲the Hope Book Direct Loan Service that allows borrowing desired books directly from local bookstores ▲and a visiting library service for information-vulnerable groups.


Mayor Oh Gyu-seok said, “We will make every effort to operate various educational and cultural programs tailored to the needs and characteristics of all generations, from children to seniors, and to become a warm complex cultural space where residents can share their daily lives together.”


Gijang Library received the group award in the ‘52nd Korea Library Award 2020’ organized by the Korean Library Association.
