NS Home Shopping announced on the 19th that it delivered a CEO message and gifts to disabled employees working from home in celebration of Disabled Persons Day on April 20.
Jo Hangmok, CEO of NS Home Shopping, expressed his gratitude to disabled employees through gift certificates and a message, saying, "On the occasion of Disabled Persons Day, we thank you for demonstrating your capabilities as members of the company beyond your disabilities."
Since 2009, NS Home Shopping has employed disabled workers and has increased the employment rate of disabled persons annually. The company explained, "As a result of efforts to improve job satisfaction through better working conditions, allowance support, and various welfare systems, NS Home Shopping's disabled employment rate stands at 5.29% (as of December 2021), exceeding the mandatory employment rate of 3.1% set by the Disabled Employment Act (for private companies)."
NS Home Shopping lowered barriers to service use by obtaining the 'Web Accessibility Quality Certification' in 2014, awarded to excellent sites that improve accessibility for information-vulnerable groups such as disabled persons. Since 2020, it has provided home shopping telephone order services for the visually impaired. All counselors are trained to respond from the perspective of visually impaired customers, offering assistance with orders, product explanations, and option recommendations.
Kim Ki-hwan, Executive Director of NS Home Shopping's CS Support Headquarters, said, "Not only are we increasing the employment rate of disabled persons, but NS Home Shopping also supports disabled employees to demonstrate capabilities equal to other workers through job segmentation for more progressive disabled employment creation." He added, "Going forward, NS Home Shopping will do its best as a company fulfilling social responsibility to practice the mission of 'creating life value and sharing happiness,' and will support disabled persons in various ways for their independence and rightful exercise of rights."
Meanwhile, since 2011, NS Home Shopping has regularly donated goods to the Daejeon Spinal Cord Injury Association, and since 2016, it has collaborated with the Community Chest of Korea to support group homes for disabled persons, sponsoring stable activities of disabled professional artists such as orchestras, dance troupes, and painters.
