Providing Discount Information on Budget Phones and Internet Bundles
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] LG Uplus announced on the 19th that it has partnered with ‘Moyo,’ a service that compares MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) plans, to provide information on MVNO and internet bundle discounts.
‘Moyo’ is an MVNO product comparison service that analyzes users' communication service usage patterns to recommend plans and connect them to activation. It currently provides plan information from 26 MVNO operators, including Pretty, Smartel, Livem, and Iyagi Mobile.
Through this partnership, customers who wish to subscribe to MVNO can check MVNO plans eligible for discounts when bundled with LG Uplus’s high-speed internet via Moyo. If customers select products from 11 operators such as Pretty, Mobbing, Smartel, and Eyes Mobile, which lease LG Uplus’s network, they can also immediately request consultation related to bundle discounts.
MVNO users can enjoy more affordable communication and wired services when bundled. Since 2020, LG Uplus has included MVNO in its wired and wireless bundle discount service called ‘Cham Shiwun Family Bundle.’ U+ MVNO users who subscribe to LG Uplus’s high-speed internet and apply for bundle discounts can receive a monthly internet fee discount of KRW 13,200 (based on 1Gbps internet, 3-year contract). Additional discounts are also provided when bundling with the IPTV service U+tv.
The two companies are also conducting a promotional event to celebrate the partnership. Customers who receive consultation for high-speed internet and IPTV subscriptions on the Moyo site, activate the service, and bundle it with U+ MVNO will receive a total MVNO fee discount of KRW 132,000 over 12 months, with KRW 11,000 off each month. Going forward, LG Uplus and Moyo plan to pursue multifaceted cooperation. They will also expand MVNO products from small and medium operators that can be bundled with U+ internet introduced on Moyo.
Andong-geon, CEO of Moyo, said, “By guiding bundled products this time, consumers can resolve everything at once without having to separately look for internet services.”
Kang Jin-wook, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Commerce Business at LG Uplus, stated, “LG Uplus will continue to coexist and prosper with small and medium MVNO operators.”
