Possession of Over 300 Illegal Videos
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 30s accused of illegally filming the bodies of passing women for 2 years and 3 months has been detained and sent to prosecution.
On the 18th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Subway Police Unit announced that Mr. A, who was detained on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (illegal filming, etc.), was sent to the prosecution on the 15th.
Mr. A is suspected of secretly filming the bodies of unspecified women with his mobile phone near Samsung Jungang Station on Seoul Subway Line 9. Police investigations confirmed that 140 illegal videos were filmed. Mr. A is also accused of possessing 311 illegal videos.
After receiving a report of illegal filming in June last year, the police issued an arrest warrant and a search warrant when Mr. A failed to comply with a summons and went into hiding. Subsequently, the police tracked his location in real time and arrested the suspect hiding at his younger sister's house.
