Completion of Urban Management Plan Decision (Change) Service in the First Half of Next Year, Project Completion in 2026
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon is accelerating the project to build public administration, cultural complex, sports facilities, and a K-food square in the Songdo Amusement Park area (Dongchun 1-dong 743-7).
The district announced on the 18th that following the confirmation and announcement of the '2040 Incheon Urban Master Plan' in February, it has recently secured additional budget for the urban management plan confirmation (modification) service and is embarking on the full-scale project.
The scope of the service includes removing risk factors for resident safety, such as the fire accident that occurred in October 2020 on the remaining land adjacent to Songdo Theme Park, and addressing complaints related to urban aesthetics, including the release area adjacent to Songdo Theme Park.
Accordingly, a comprehensive review is expected regarding the release area of Songdo Amusement Park, including LH land in Songdo Amusement Park, remaining land adjacent to Songdo Theme Park, and Igeon Industrial land, reflecting public administration, cultural complex, sports facilities, and K-food square.
This project aims to secure public service infrastructure in the old downtown by utilizing the release area of Songdo Amusement Park to build public administration and cultural complex facilities, as the population influx increases due to various large-scale development projects in Okryeon-dong and Dongchun-dong areas.
The remaining land of Songdo Theme Park, including national and private land, consists of 29 parcels totaling 21,782㎡, currently housing facilities such as a used car recycling business.
The district plans to complete the public administration and cultural complex facility project by 2026, following the urban management plan decision service and procedural compliance by the first half of next year.
During Mayor Park Namchun’s New Year visit this year, a request was made to reflect the Songdo Amusement Park public administration complex facility in the '2040 Incheon Urban Master Plan,' and with this proposal accepted, 200 million KRW was secured for the service fee in the recent first supplementary budget.
A Yeonsu-gu official stated, "We plan to proceed with the service to provide various public services centered on the old downtown, including the previously insufficient public administration, cultural, sports, and welfare facilities, by utilizing the release area of Songdo Amusement Park."
