[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 18th that it will hold the 37th Uigyeon Cultural Festival, a companion animal culture festival, at Osu Uigyeon Park from the 5th to the 7th of next month.
The Osu Uigyeon Festival had not been held for the past two years due to COVID-19, but this year, as much awaited, it is planned to be more colorful and abundant, reminiscent of a film festival.
To this end, the county held a "Festival Progress Report Meeting" at Osu Uigyeon Park on the 15th.
At the meeting, the overall event plan for the 37th Uigyeon Cultural Festival and the current progress were reviewed.
The head of Imsil-gun personally inspected the site and ordered thorough event preparation and safety management.
This year’s Uigyeon Cultural Festival program is packed with a companion animal fashion show that showcases style and personality, reminiscent of a film festival, and a companion animal talk show to address curiosities.
It is planned as a special and diverse program including a companion animal industry expo where various pet products can be found, and various companion animal experience events.
In particular, the companion animal talk show will feature the participation of CEO Kim Hyung-wook, nationally known as the “Dog President,” and Professor Lee Woong-jong, which is highly expected to resolve the curiosities of companion animal families.
A county official said, “It was very unfortunate that the Uigyeon Cultural Festival, a happy festival for companion animals and their families, could not be held for the past two years due to COVID-19.”
He added, “Since it has been a long wait, please make thorough preparations so that not only companion animals and their families but also all residents and tourists visiting the event can have a joyful and happy time.”
Kim Seon-tae, vice chairman of the Uigyeon Cultural Festival Organizing Committee, which is promoting the festival, said, “Since this is the first festival in three years, we will do our best to prepare and proceed without any setbacks,” and added, “We hope many residents and tourists will make good memories at the Uigyeon Cultural Festival with their companion animals.”
The Uigyeon Cultural Festival began in 1982 to commemorate the spirit of gratitude of Osu dogs who saved their drunken owners with their bodies. It has grown beyond the scope of “Uigyeon” to become a cultural festival that provides a place for harmony between companion animals and their families, promoting companion animal welfare and awareness improvement.
