Jeongeup-si Operates 'Life Science Classroom'... Fostering Creative Talent

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that it will operate the ‘Everyday Science Classroom’ to provide opportunities for science culture experiences to youth and citizens interested in science and technology.

The Everyday Science Classroom is a program designed to foster scientific creativity and curiosity for students, the elderly, housewives, and people with disabilities who have limited opportunities for science experiences.

By operating experiential learning that allows participants to easily and enjoyably engage with scientific principles in daily life, it aims to contribute to the development of regional science and technology, the spread of science culture, the realization of educational welfare in the science and technology field, and the enhancement of social value.

This year, the first session of the Everyday Science Classroom is supported by Jeongeup City, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, sponsored by the Lottery Fund Committee, and operated by Jeonbuk Science College.

The program covers all age groups from youth to seniors and is held at 21 educational centers in the southwestern Jeonbuk region, including Jeongeup.

The detailed programs include 10 basic science classes such as air-powered cars, AI grip tok, and rock cycles, as well as coding programs.

Anyone who is a citizen of Jeongeup can participate in the Everyday Science Classroom.

Those interested in participating can contact the Everyday Science Classroom at Jeonbuk Science College for detailed information.

A city official said, “We will support high-quality science programs so that youth and citizens can develop interest and confidence in science,” adding, “We will strive to eliminate educational disparities by region and social class and ensure that educational benefits are distributed evenly.”
