Kim Seonghwan, Gwangju Dong-gu Mayor Preliminary Candidate, "Establishing an 18-Hole Park Golf Course"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kim Seong-hwan, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 18th that he plans to build various sports facility infrastructures, including a park golf course with 18 holes.

Currently, Dong-gu has plans to build a 9-hole park golf course on the landfill site in Jiwon-dong, but the project has not yet materialized.

Park golf courses have recently been widely used not only by the elderly but also by people of all ages and genders, and all other districts in Gwangju have one or two park golf courses established.

In particular, Dong-gu has a rapidly increasing elderly population ratio, reaching 22%, and in accordance with this demographic, an 18-hole park golf course preferred by the elderly will be constructed.

He also mentioned that other types of sports facilities preferred by relatively older age groups, such as ground golf, will be considered in the future.

Candidate Kim pledged, "Although Dong-gu is experiencing continuous population inflow due to recent urban development and redevelopment, convenience facilities to meet this demand are severely lacking. We will install various sports facilities that can ensure residents' healthy lifestyles, such as maintaining hiking trails and walking paths, reinforcing sports facilities like swimming pools, and expanding support for community sports."

During his previous tenure as district mayor, Candidate Kim completed a multipurpose gymnasium in Jiwon-dong that can accommodate about 2,500 residents simultaneously, secured budget for an additional floor in the Sansu-dong gymnasium, and worked on establishing sports infrastructure linked to key sports clubs.
