Korean Air is making thorough preparations for customers who are leaving the dark tunnel of COVID-19 and traveling abroad again. On the first day of the full lifting of social distancing measures, the 18th, Korean Air held a spring cleaning event for the ‘Boeing 747-8i’ aircraft at the Korean Air maintenance hangar in Unseo-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon.
For cleaning the exterior of the aircraft including the fuselage, one vehicle-mounted aerial work platform that rises up to 26 meters, three medium-to-large lift cars, and three water tank trucks were deployed. Engine cleaning lowers the exhaust gas temperature by 2℃ and improves fuel efficiency, resulting in an annual reduction of about 190 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The water used for cleaning was fully collected to prevent environmental pollution and safely treated at designated locations. As the gradual return to normal life progresses and demand for air travel is expected to recover, the aviation and travel industries are busy trying to regain their pre-COVID-19 state. Here is a collection of photos from the site.
