[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 18th that it will launch a customized healthcare app called 'THE Health.'
THE Health is part of Samsung Life Insurance's 'Health Asset Up Project,' which fulfills the company's social role in promoting the healthy and happy lives of the public.
THE Health provides services related to exercise, diet, and mental health all in one app. The company emphasized that it functions as a 'personal AI health management assistant in your hand,' offering AI-based customized services tailored to each customer.
First, the exercise feature recommends personalized home training programs based on user surveys that match individual characteristics and goals.
It offers exercise videos tailored to various goals such as dieting, improving back pain, and enhancing golf skills. Additionally, through smartphone motion recognition, it analyzes the user's posture and provides real-time feedback via AI.
For diet, it provides customized health coaching through meal records and nutrient analysis by taking food photos and conducting surveys. When users set health goals such as target weight or diseases they want to prevent, personalized nutrition coaching is suggested accordingly.
Collaboration with Samsung Welstory to provide professional nutrition coaching is noteworthy. It offers diet information and recipes suited to goals like low-fat, low-sodium, and weight loss diets, and proposes customized meal plans by type for users requiring special health management such as students preparing for exams, patients, and patient families.
Mental health can also be managed together. By conducting self-diagnosis tests for conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress, and sleep, the app analyzes mental health status and, based on location services, informs users of nearby hospitals and pharmacies.
It also provides customized mindfulness solutions such as meditation and yoga videos, which were previously offered only to employees at Samsung Human Resources Development Center.
THE Health app plans to operate various health challenges such as walking 10,000 steps a day and drinking 2 liters of water to motivate users. Upon achieving challenge goals, users will be entered into a draw to receive small rewards.
A Samsung Life Insurance official stated, “As we enter an era of longevity with chronic diseases, the importance of health management is gradually increasing,” adding, “Through the THE Health app, we plan to actively participate in social roles for promoting public health beyond insurance and finance.”
