[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] LG Uplus and Gangwon Province announced on the 17th that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to revitalize local tourism. This is LG Uplus's second initiative to provide customers with new experiences in their daily lives, following Haeundae District in Busan Metropolitan City.
Through this MOU, LG Uplus and Gangwon Province will introduce tourist attractions in the Chuncheon area and cooperate to attract tourists. In particular, they plan to jointly develop promotional content for Gangwon tourism such as web variety shows and collaborate in various ways including conducting workation programs.
The newly produced web variety show is part of LG Uplus's brand campaign 'Why Not?' and is designed to offer customers the ‘pleasure of crossing boundaries’ that LG Uplus pursues. ‘Why Not?’ is a campaign to showcase LG Uplus's brand philosophy of leading enjoyable changes in customers' daily lives through bold challenges that break stereotypes.
The web variety show will introduce tourist attractions in Gangwon Province, including ‘Legoland,’ which is scheduled to open for the first time in Korea on the 5th of next month. The content will be conducted in a way that the cast communicates with locals while introducing visited attractions and tours together with customers participating online. LG Uplus plans to offer membership customers benefits related to the tourist sites introduced in the content, such as up to 20% discount on Legoland admission tickets.
In the future, LG Uplus plans to expand the introduced tourist attractions such as ‘Yukrimgogae Youth Mall’ and ‘Jungdo Waterwheel Trail’ in cooperation with Gangwon Province and to specify cooperation plans in various fields including workation programs. The strategy is to contribute to revitalizing local tourism through continuous collaboration with local governments and to provide customers with new value through tourism.
Additionally, LG Uplus plans to establish cooperation with more local governments beyond Gangwon Province and Haeundae District in Busan Metropolitan City, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by linking with businesses in those regions.
