[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 17th, North Korea announced that it test-fired a new tactical guided weapon under the observation of Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party, and the Blue House held a meeting chaired by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon in the morning to discuss response measures.
Park Kyung-mi, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated, "This morning, under the chairmanship of the National Security Office Director, a meeting was held with deputy ministers from the foreign and security departments and Joint Chiefs of Staff officials to review North Korea's military movements and discuss response directions."
This follows North Korea's launch of two projectiles into the East Sea around 6 a.m. the previous day near the Hamhung area, and its announcement through media on the same day that it had test-fired a new tactical guided weapon.
The Blue House also held an emergency meeting the previous day, chaired by Suh Jun-hyuk, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office and Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC).
President Moon Jae-in received continuous real-time reports on the situation from the National Security Office Director, closely monitored North Korea's movements, and instructed relevant departments to thoroughly manage the situation.
