[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, made a surprise visit to the hunger strike site of former National Assembly member Kim Jin-tae, who was 'cut off' from the nomination for Gangwon Province governor, and reportedly mentioned the possibility of requesting a reconsideration from the Nomination Management Committee, drawing attention to the results of the party's Supreme Council meeting scheduled for the 18th.

According to a member of former lawmaker Kim's election camp, around 11:23 p.m. on the 15th, Lee Jun-seok visited Kim, who was on a hunger strike, and said, "If the single nomination plan for Gangwon Province governor is submitted to the Supreme Council on the 18th, there is a possibility of requesting reconsideration from the Nomination Management Committee."

Lee's mention of the 'possibility of requesting reconsideration' comes after a precedent where the exclusion of Park Seong-hyo, a preliminary candidate for Daejeon mayor, from the primary was overturned by a reconsideration request to the Nomination Management Committee. Since the Gangwon governor nomination was made without a primary, this suggests that Kim's cut-off could also be reconsidered.

If the party's Supreme Council accepts Kim's position, he could gain an opportunity to participate in the primary.

Kim requested Lee to "correct the Nomination Management Committee's cut-off, which lacks principles and fairness," and Lee reportedly stayed at the protest site for about an hour before leaving.

Meanwhile, after the party's Nomination Management Committee 'cut off' Kim, he protested, saying, "I cannot help but suspect ulterior motives," and began an indefinite hunger strike in front of the National Assembly main building from 6 p.m. on the 15th.

Kim urged the withdrawal of the Nomination Management Committee's cut-off decision, stating, "I will do everything I can until a fair primary is held."
