[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is conducting a detailed investigation of the entire 754 km of water supply pipes to provide clean tap water that residents can drink with confidence.
The project, carried out by Seongju-gun and K-water, will run for one year starting in April, with a budget of 1.411 billion KRW allocated.
This investigation will use advanced equipment called pipeline endoscopes to inspect the inside of the pipes without interrupting water supply. Samples from the pipelines will be collected and sent to accredited professional institutions for accurate diagnosis.
Lee Byung-hwan, the mayor of Seongju-gun, stated, “We will promptly proceed with the improvement project for aging water pipelines by negotiating government budget support for the deteriorated pipelines and those causing water quality accidents identified through this investigation.”
