[Seoul District Photo News] Gangbuk-gu Hosts the 5th 4·19 Revolution International Academic Conference... Yangcheon-gu Conducts Safety Training for Road and Electrical Construction Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held the 'Siheung 5-dong Complex Building Completion Ceremony' at 2 p.m. on the 15th.
The completion ceremony was held with the attendance of Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, residents of Siheung 5-dong, and various professional organizations, proceeding in the order of a report on the construction project progress, congratulatory speeches, unveiling ceremony, and introduction of the spaces inside the building.
The Siheung 5-dong Complex Building consists of 2 basement floors and 6 above-ground floors, with a site area of 763.7㎡ and a total floor area of 3,057.9㎡. It includes ▲basement floors 1-2 parking lot ▲1st floor Haenggung Village Small Library and Shared Kitchen ▲2nd floor Integrated Civil Service Office ▲3rd floor Fitness Center ▲4th floor Residents' Autonomy Office, Volunteer Camp, Lecture Room ▲5th floor Auditorium and Multipurpose Room ▲6th floor Siheung Haenggung Exhibition Hall.
Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, “I am pleased to have this meaningful time to commemorate the construction of the Siheung 5-dong Complex Building,” and added, “I hope the Siheung 5-dong Complex Building, under the slogan ‘an open building that approaches residents,’ will serve as a hub for the local community by the residents and for the residents, and become a true venue for residents' autonomy.”
Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) held the 5th 4·19 Revolution International Academic Conference as part of the ‘4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival 2022’ at the Hanshin University Seoul Campus Chapel on the 15th.
At the event, Professor Lee Ki-ho of Hanshin University served as the chair, and three overseas presenters discussed the recent crises of democracy in countries representing democratic ideals such as the United States and Europe under the theme ‘The Global Crisis of Democracy and the Spirit of the 4·19 Revolution,’ seeking diagnosis and solutions through the spirit of the 4·19 Revolution.
The overseas presenters conducted an online video conference on topics including ▲The Impact of Brexit on British Politics and the Future (David Mitchell, Assistant Professor at Trinity College Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK) ▲A Look at American Democracy (Monty Narayan Datta, Associate Professor at the University of Richmond, Virginia, USA) ▲Democracy in Southeast Asia: Challenges and Prospects (Yoo Yoon Wayuningrum, Indonesian Representative of the ASEAN Human Rights Commission).
After the presentations, a lively discussion continued on the topics presented by the overseas speakers with Professor Nam Young-ho of Shinhan University, Professor Ahn Byung-jin of Kyung Hee University, Professor Kim Aram of Hallym University, and Section Chief Kim Chan-ho of the Democracy Movement Commemoration Project.
Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su said, “The international academic conference is an opportunity to widely share the noble spirit of the 4·19 Revolution with people around the world,” and added, “Through this conference, we will further re-examine the global historical significance and value of the 4·19 Revolution from an academic perspective.”
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young), together with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, conducted safety education on the afternoon of the 14th at the Haenuri Town Art Hall for contractors commissioned by the district for road lighting construction.
Regarding the ‘Strengthening of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act,’ the education invited Kim Kwang-bae, Manager of the Western Branch of the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, as an instructor, who explained ▲Compliance with safety regulations based on cases of electrical safety accidents ▲Compliance with regulations for the installation of streetlights and security lights under the Electrical Safety Management Act.
Additionally, Kim Hae-jung, Road Lighting Team Leader, also served as an instructor, educating on essential safety management matters such as ▲Installation of safety fences and temporary pedestrian paths ▲Installation of construction guide signs ▲Deployment of pedestrian safety assistants ▲Strict wearing of personal protective equipment, emphasizing the importance of safety management at construction sites.
