Condolences and Comfort Delivered to Sewol Ferry Victims and Bereaved Families
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that on the 16th, the 8th anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster, the '8th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony for Civilian Victims of the Sewol Ferry Disaster' and the '8th Anniversary Commemoration of the Sewol Ferry Disaster' will be held.
The 8th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony for Civilian Victims of the Sewol Ferry Disaster will take place at 'Incheon Family Park' located in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City. The ceremony will be attended by the bereaved families of the victims, Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Interior and Safety, Park Nam-chun, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, and others to pay tribute to the victims. The event will proceed in the order of a moment of silence for the victims, a memorial performance by the 5·3 Choir, and floral tributes and incense offerings by the attendees.
The 8th Anniversary Commemoration of the Sewol Ferry Disaster will be held at 'Hwarang Amusement Park' in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, hosted by the '4·16 Foundation.' The ceremony will be attended by bereaved families, officials from the 4·16 Foundation, Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, Minister of the Interior and Safety Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hae, and general citizens to console the spirits of the Sewol victims. The commemoration will proceed with the reading of a letter of promise by a surviving Sewol student, the reading of memory messages by citizens, and a memorial performance by the 4·16 Choir.
