Gurye-gun Provides Annual 200,000 KRW Cultural Welfare Support to 1,500 Youth

Promotion of Cultural Welfare Expense Support Project for Youth Aged 21 to 28

Gurye-gun Provides Annual 200,000 KRW Cultural Welfare Support to 1,500 Youth

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 15th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that, together with Jeollanam-do, it will provide support for youth cultural welfare expenses to improve the vulnerable regional population structure, which has the lowest youth population ratio and the highest elderly population ratio nationwide, and to prevent the outflow of young people to other regions.

The youth cultural welfare expenses are part of a life-cycle tailored policy, designed to provide opportunities for cultural enjoyment and self-development to young people in the area who have lower accessibility to transportation, culture, and leisure activities compared to the metropolitan area, and to encourage young residents living in Gurye.

The support target is young people aged 21 to 28 who have had their address in Jeollanam-do since before January 1, 2020, and the payment is made annually if the age and address requirements are met.

However, public institution employees receiving welfare points, out-of-school youth education allowance recipients, and Jeollanam-do female farmers and fishermen voucher recipients cannot receive overlapping benefits, and cultural Nuri card recipients will receive 100,000 KRW excluding the cultural Nuri benefit.

The cultural welfare expenses are provided via a check card and can be used within the corresponding year.

They can only be used for cultural and leisure activities such as travel and performance viewing, academy tuition, and self-development including book purchases.

Entertainment establishments and department stores are excluded from usage, and the card cannot be used in other cities or provinces.

Applications are accepted for one month from the 1st to April 30th, and can be submitted online through the Nonghyup Card website or in person at the town or township office of the resident registration address.

Lee Gwang-dong, Acting Governor of Gurye-gun, said, “We will continue to actively discover and promote youth policies such as the cultural welfare card support project so that young people can enjoy a satisfying life in the region.”
