4.8ha Area in Janggu-ri, Bongdong-eup from This Year to Next Year
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County announced on the 15th that it will create a fine dust blocking forest the size of seven soccer fields in the Wanju Industrial Complex, which has been established for over 20 years, to improve air quality, regulate climate, and enhance the quality of life for nearby residents.
Wanju County held a service report meeting for the "Wanju Industrial Complex Fine Dust Blocking Forest Construction Project Detailed Design" and presented the basic concept and direction, basic plan, and risk area restoration measures to create a 4.8ha (1ha is equivalent to 1.5 soccer fields) fine dust blocking forest in the Janggu-ri area of Bongdong-eup within the Wanju Industrial Complex from this year through next year.
Wanju County explained that once this project is implemented, it will be able to reduce 1,176 kg of fine dust and other air pollutants annually, and it is expected to have effects such as air quality improvement, heat island mitigation, noise reduction, and emotional enrichment.
The detailed design will be completed within the first half of this year, and the first phase of the three-stage industrial complex fine dust blocking forest construction project will be actively promoted starting in August.
Meanwhile, the Wanju Industrial Complex is an aging industrial complex established between 1989 and 1997, with a population of about 35,000 concentrated nearby and nearly 15,000 residents living within the complex itself, strongly highlighting the need for forest creation in the area.
