Carrying Out Gangwon Product Marketing, Public Diplomacy, and Tourism Promotion
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province is establishing an advance base in the United States to actively respond to the rapidly growing export market to the U.S. and strengthen its global network.
Gangwon Province announced on the 15th that it will establish the "Gangwon Province U.S. Headquarters."
The U.S. headquarters, to be set up in Manhattan, New York City in the first half of this year, will consist of one director and two staff members. It will act as a local branch for Gangwon export companies in the U.S. and carry out various marketing activities, public diplomacy, and tourism promotion for Gangwon products.
The U.S. headquarters plans to hold an opening ceremony in the first half of the year and begin full-scale local activities from the second half.
The opening ceremony will include a networking event inviting key local figures and Korean associations, along with simultaneous online and offline promotional events for Gangwon products.
Afterward, the headquarters will focus on discovering new buyers and developing new markets by participating in exhibitions and sales promotions linked with export companies and organizations within the province. It will also build close relationships with relevant local institutions and organizations to achieve tangible results through the establishment of the U.S. headquarters.
Prior to establishing the U.S. headquarters, the province has been carrying out procedures such as drafting basic plans and revising related regulations since 2020.
Additionally, to ensure smooth operation and build cooperative relationships, the province signed an agreement with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in March this year, completing the preparations for opening the U.S. headquarters.
With the establishment of the U.S. headquarters, Gangwon Province will operate its fifth overseas headquarters following those in Japan, China, Russia, and Vietnam, expecting to strengthen international trade and diplomatic functions and achieve the goal of $3 billion in Gangwon exports.
