The assets of Park Bo-gyun, the nominee for Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, have been confirmed to be approximately 2.9 billion KRW. President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol submitted the personnel hearing request for Park to the National Assembly on the 14th. According to this, the assets under the names of Park himself, his wife, and his second daughter amount to 2,940,920,000 KRW. The eldest daughter did not report assets due to reasons such as independent livelihood and living abroad.


The real estate held includes an apartment in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, jointly owned by the couple (1,990,000,000 KRW), and forest land and land in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, under the spouse's name (188,149,000 KRW). The total deposits combined for the couple amount to 457,976,000 KRW, and Park owns a 2015 model Equus and a 2017 model Nissan Maxima, one each. Park holds Joins.com stocks worth 825,000 KRW, and his spouse holds Brazilian government bonds worth 87,272,000 KRW. Other assets include intellectual property rights for three authored books (11,550,000 KRW), a health club membership under the spouse's name (31,200,000 KRW), deposits of the second daughter (105,360,000 KRW), and securities (8,434,000 KRW). There has been no tax delinquency in the past five years.


In the statement of reasons for the hearing request, President-elect Yoon wrote, "Having worked as a journalist for nearly 40 years, Park has approached culture and arts from a humanistic and aesthetic perspective," and "With exceptional interest and passion for politics, culture, language, leadership, civilization, and history, he has written various articles and columns based on the cultural and artistic field, continuously expanding empathy with not only the public but also the cultural and artistic community." He added, "By covering historical sites around the world, he has directly and indirectly experienced cultural and artistic policy cases of top advanced countries such as the United States and Europe, accumulating related expertise," and praised him as "the right person to swiftly resolve urgent tasks such as bold deregulation of the K-Culture industry, continuous expansion of the Korean Wave, realization of universal cultural welfare, strengthening of art support systems and tourism sports competitiveness, while ensuring that all citizens enjoy culture fairly and without discrimination."
