[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 14th, Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, met with Bae Jin-kyo, floor leader of the Justice Party, expressed partial agreement with the multiparty system, and requested, "Please maintain an independent course true to the Justice Party."

At the meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, Kwon said, "The Justice Party has always represented minority voices," adding, "Although it took time, the Justice Party's opinions have been reflected, and the world has changed significantly. I ask you to continue to play a role like salt." Regarding the multiparty system, he said, "There is an advantage in that it can represent even minority voices," but added, "Since we fundamentally choose a presidential system, we have a different view that an artificial multiparty system is beneficial for political stability and governance."

Kwon also mentioned the 'pilot implementation of the medium-sized electoral district system for basic constituencies' agreed upon with the Democratic Party of Korea and requested Lee Eun-joo, Justice Party's senior deputy floor leader, to stop her hunger strike. He said, "Since you cannot be full with the first bite, I decided to pilot it in 11 places and told the Democratic Party floor leader to agree to that extent," adding, "I think it will probably go well as the Justice Party desires." Lee has been on a hunger strike since the 8th, urging the two major parties to pass political reform bills such as expanding the medium-sized electoral district system for basic councils and promoting a multiparty system.

Kwon said, "The National Assembly should engage in deep dialogue and discussion, but as soon as I took office, the Democratic Party gave me a huge bomb gift," adding, "Seeing them push hard without even a honeymoon period, I realize that smooth dialogue, cooperation, and coexistence are not easy."
