[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Samcheok Fund Management Committee, which will manage the community contribution fund donated by Sampyo Cement, was launched on the 14th.
Sampyo Cement held an inauguration ceremony at the Samcheok plant on the same day and elected Jeong Hee-su, president of the Samcheok Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the inaugural chairman. Chairman Jeong stated, "I will provide meticulous management and efficient operational directions to ensure the fund is managed transparently and rationally."
This inauguration ceremony is a follow-up measure for the practical implementation of the 'Voluntary Fundraising Agreement for Expanding Community Contributions' signed between Sampyo Cement and Samcheok City on the 7th. The Samcheok Fund Management Committee is responsible for supporting social contribution projects needed by the local community using the fund donated by Sampyo Cement. The scale of the fund this year is about 3.7 billion KRW based on last year's production volume.
The committee consists of seven experts active in the region. Along with Chairman Jeong, members include Jeong Jeong-sun, former vice chairman of the Samcheok City Council; Moon Yong-gi, chairman of the Samcheok City Resident Participation Budget Committee; Shin Seung-yong, advisory member of the Samcheok City Council; Kim Kyung-nam, professor at Kangwon National University; Kim Chang-young, president of the Samcheok Social Organizations Council; and Seo Won-cheol, executive director of Sampyo Cement.
Lee Jong-seok, CEO of Sampyo Cement, emphasized, "As a representative company of Samcheok City, we have strived to prepare a responsible win-win plan," adding, "We plan to communicate with the local community regarding fund management and fully reflect their opinions."
