Nowon Police Station Provides Cyberbullying and Digital Sex Crime Prevention Education to Philippine Korean International School

[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] On the 14th, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced that on the 11th, it conducted cyber school violence and digital sex crime prevention education for 76 middle and high school students of the Philippine Korean International School.

Founded in 2009, the Philippine Korean International School is located in Manila, Philippines, and currently has 139 students enrolled from kindergarten through high school. The Philippine Korean International School also conducted non-face-to-face online classes from April 2020 due to COVID-19, but plans to switch to face-to-face classes starting on the 21st. Accordingly, the school requested assistance from the Nowon Police Station, considering the need for school violence prevention education.

The education, conducted via the video conferencing service Zoom, covered topics including ▲the concept of school violence ▲types and damages of cyber school violence ▲cases of digital sex crimes.

A representative from the Nowon Police Station said, “This was the first time we conducted education targeting students overseas,” and added, “We are pleased to have created an opportunity to educate not only students in Korea but also those attending school abroad through this education.”
