Fire Breaks Out Inside Pohang Jeotgal Factory... 20 Tons of Jeotgal Lost

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Wonjin Lee] A fire of unknown cause broke out at a salted seafood factory in Pohang, Gyeongbuk.

According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters on the 14th, a fire occurred at a salted seafood factory in Honghae-eup, Pohang City, around 6:28 p.m. on the 13th, and the fire was extinguished 57 minutes after it started.

According to the fire department's estimate, part of the vinyl greenhouse factory and 20 tons of aged salted seafood were burned, causing property damage worth about 20 million won. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

A fire official said, "The fire location was adjacent to a mountain," adding, "Fortunately, the fire was prevented from spreading to the mountain."

The police and fire authorities are investigating the cause of the fire by interviewing witnesses and others.
