[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] LG Uplus will share mobility big data with Sejong Technopark.

LG Uplus announced on the 14th that it signed a business agreement with Sejong Technopark and the Korea Transport Institute to advance mobility technology and create new services.

Through this business agreement, LG Uplus, Sejong Technopark, and the Korea Transport Institute plan to share "Mobility Data," which collectively refers to various data generated by the movement of people and goods. In particular, they will focus on developing "demand-responsive" mobility services in various fields such as vehicles, buses, and shared bicycles by analyzing floating population and transportation demand data. It is expected to identify actual travel patterns within the city through big data and improve the efficiency of public transportation transfers.

In addition, LG Uplus will support Sejong Technopark in enabling central government ministries and relocated public institutions located in Sejong City to easily utilize floating population data within Sejong City, secured through mobile communication services, for policy decision-making.

Previously, LG Uplus carried out a project to establish the "Autonomous Driving Big Data Control Center" in Sejong City last year, laying the foundation to generate and analyze up to 9PB (petabytes) of autonomous driving-related big data. Sejong Technopark, which operates this Autonomous Driving Big Data Control Center, is a regional innovation growth hub established to promote industrial advancement and support small and medium-sized enterprises in Sejong City.

LG Uplus is jointly conducting a demonstration project for autonomous driving-based mobility services with the Korea Transport Institute. The Korea Transport Institute is a national transport think tank that holds mobility data such as vehicle GPS and public transportation card data.
