Chungnam: "Must Complete Forestry Business Registration to Apply for 'Forestry Direct Payment'"

[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province urges the completion of forestry management entity registration for forestland by the end of next month. This is because receiving direct payments related to the forestry direct payment system is only possible once the registration is completed.

According to the province on the 14th, the forestry direct payment system, introduced this year, aims to provide direct payments to qualified forestry operators to compensate for their low income and to secure the continuous public functions of forests.

Eligible registrants are managers engaged in afforestation forestry, forest product production and harvesting, and forestry seedling and sapling cultivation using forestland as a means of production.

Registration can be done by visiting the local forestry office in charge of the registrant’s address (Central Regional Forest Service located in Gongju City, and Buyeo National Forest Management Office located in Buyeo County) in person, or by submitting the application form and supporting documents via mail, fax, or Document24.

The integrated forestry management entity website also provides services for forestry management entity registration and changes.

This year, applications for direct payments will be accepted starting in June, and only forestry operators who complete registration by the end of next month will be eligible to receive direct payments.

Lee Sang-chun, Director of the Forest Resources Division of the province, said, “This year is a meaningful year as it marks the compensation for the public contributions of forestry operators,” and added, “We urge forest owners and forestry operators to complete forestry management entity registration by the end of next month to receive forestry direct payments.”
