Seoul City Obtains 'ISO 22301' Certification in Snow Removal Management Sector

Winter Road Snow Removal Management System for Disaster Prevention Recognized as International Standard

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 14th that it has obtained the international standard certification for Business Continuity Management System (ISO 22301) in the field of snow removal management.

The Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which is a comprehensive system that operates and manages the entire process of prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery for crisis situations such as disasters and emergencies. Recently, unexpected disasters have occurred due to climate change, and Seoul City has been implementing innovative snow removal measures to minimize damage caused by heavy snowfall, including preparing disaster response manuals, establishing a real-time snow removal site control system, introducing advanced snow removal equipment and facilities, and building a cooperation system among civilians, government, military, and police.

Since last year, Seoul City has established a business continuity management plan, prepared standard manuals and conducted step-by-step emergency training for the winter season to create a standard document system for obtaining ISO 22301 international certification. After an on-site audit in March, the certification was finally confirmed by the Korea Management Certification Institute.

In this regard, Seoul City plans to hold a certificate awarding ceremony at 2 p.m. on the same day, attended by Hwang Eun-joo, CEO of the Korea Management Certification Institute, Han Je-hyun, Director General of Safety at Seoul City, and others.

Han Je-hyun, Director General of Safety at Seoul City, said, “Seoul City prioritizes the safety and property protection of citizens during the winter season, and with the acquisition of this international standard certification, we will continuously improve the road snow removal system to ensure citizens’ safe and convenient use of winter roads.”
