Preliminary Candidates for Dong, Nam, and Buk District Mayors Decided... 'Drunk Driving Controversy' Delays Screening for Seo and Gwangsan Districts
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The lineup for the Democratic Party's Gwangju basic local government chief primary is taking shape.
The Democratic Party Gwangju City Party Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee (Gonggwanwi) held a meeting on the 13th and decided on Dong-gu Mayor Im Taek, Nam-gu Mayor Kim Byeong-nae, and Buk-gu Mayor Moon In as primary candidates.
Among the candidates who applied for the district mayor nomination here, there are no cut-off candidates.
The Dong-gu mayor primary will be a four-way race, with Mayor Im and preliminary candidates Kang Shinki, Kim Seonghwan, and Jin Seon-gi expected to compete fiercely.
For Nam-gu mayor, Mayor Kim and preliminary candidates Kim Yongjip and Park Gisu are competing for ranking.
Moon In, the Buk-gu mayor, was decided as the sole candidate and will advance to the main stage.
The primary candidates for Seo-gu mayor and Gwangsan-gu mayor have not yet been reviewed due to reexaminations by current Seo-gu Mayor Seo Daeseok and Gwangsan-gu Mayor preliminary candidate Park Sijong.
They received a disqualification judgment during the candidate's detailed verification due to drunk driving issues and have filed objections with the central party.
For Seo-gu mayor, preliminary candidates include Mayor Seo, Kim Bohyeon, Kim Igang, Bae Insu, and Hwang Hyuntaek, while for Gwangsan-gu mayor, preliminary candidates Kim Hakshil, Park Byeonggyu, Yoon Nansil, Yoon Bonggeun, Lee Youngsun, and Choi Chihyeon have applied for nomination.
The Gonggwanwi plans to select primary candidates for basic local government chiefs and metropolitan/basic council members through additional screening by next week.
