[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Lee Yong-seop, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju, held a "June 1st Nationwide Simultaneous Local Election Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor Candidate Climate Crisis Response Policy Meeting" at his campaign office on the afternoon of the 13th.
At the meeting, Lee Yong-seop, the preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju, and representatives from the Climate Crisis Emergency Action attended and pledged to work toward realizing the 11 major policy tasks for climate crisis response in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
At the event, preliminary candidate Lee signed the "Climate Crisis Response Policy Implementation Agreement" and decided to promote the establishment of a specialized research institute for Gwangju's waste policy and the creation of a resource circulation culture.
The agreement includes plans to create more than 23,000 Gwangju-type climate jobs, operate public procurement and funds to support and revitalize the local social economy, and establish a public bank to support social finance.
Additionally, it includes restoring protected areas such as Mudeungsan National Park and Jangnok Wetland, repairing damaged ecosystems, and strengthening the resilience of protected areas through research and proactive measures.
