Top Priority for Next Seoul Mayor, 1 in 2 Choose "Housing Price Stability and Real Estate Policy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A poll has shown that in the upcoming June local elections, among the candidates for Seoul mayor, former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil would be trailing current mayor and People Power Party candidate Oh Se-hoon by a margin outside the margin of error.
On the 13th, polling firm Realmeter conducted a hypothetical head-to-head poll commissioned by MBN from the 11th to the 12th targeting 802 men and women aged 18 and over residing in Seoul (response rate 5.2%). The results showed that 39.0% of respondents said they would vote for former leader Song, while 50.8% said they would vote for current mayor Oh Se-hoon, resulting in a gap of 11.8 percentage points, which is outside the margin of error.
In a contest against Democratic Party candidate Park Ju-min, Mayor Oh also led by 10.6 percentage points. While 39.2% said they would vote for Park, 49.8% supported Mayor Oh.
In a matchup with former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon, Mayor Oh again led by 11.7 percentage points, outside the margin of error. Support for former leader Lee was 35.7%, while Mayor Oh received 47.4%. In a contest against former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, Mayor Oh garnered 49.4%, with former PM Chung at 35.7%.
When asked about the key priorities for the next Seoul mayor, half of the respondents (50.4%) chose "stabilizing housing prices and real estate policies." This was followed by attracting businesses and creating jobs (14.4%), and COVID-19 prevention and damage support (11.3%).
