[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kim Bohyun, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju, announced the ‘Seo-gu Type Human New Deal’ job policy.
The 'Human New Deal' project aims for inclusive growth by responding to economic structural changes through expanded investment in people, strengthening employment, social safety nets, and youth policies, and resolving inequality and gaps.
On the 13th, Candidate Kim stated in a press release that future local job policies should be led by the public sector, proposing ▲support for customized job projects by social class ▲creation of innovative jobs through AI, energy, and urban convergence special zones.
The customized job projects by social class refer to tailored job initiatives that identify the needs of specific groups, such as the previously announced public education and care three-set policy including 'School Mom,' a school commuting assistant for housewives.
By revising and supplementing local community public job policies, customized support will be provided for job seekers, housewives, the elderly, and low-income groups by social class.
Moreover, the ‘Seo-gu Type Human New Deal’ goes beyond merely providing jobs; it includes job matching that supports new entry and transition into the labor market through education after assessing the satisfaction of the target groups.
The creation of innovative jobs through AI, energy, and urban convergence special zones involves generating innovative jobs in AI and energy industries, which will be future industrial engines of Gwangju, as well as in MICE, medical, and cultural industries through the establishment of urban convergence special zones.
Additionally, the ‘Seo-gu Type Human New Deal’ is a pledge that includes workforce training and employment support to help the community move to new jobs in line with changes in the local economic structure.
Candidate Kim Bohyun said, “Job policy is an inevitable future that the government and local governments must lead,” adding, “We will do our best to create customized job projects for marginalized groups and innovative jobs for Gwangju’s new industrial engines.”
He also emphasized, “For job policies to be efficient, consultation and cooperation among the central government, Gwangju City, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and related agencies are essential,” and stated, “A prepared candidate with experience in the central government, National Assembly, and city council can solve these issues.”
