The Dongseo-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam, is providing blanket washing services to local residents.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Dongseodong Administrative Welfare Center in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam, provided a blanket washing service called ‘Our Neighborhood Hongbanjang (Laundry Service)’ for 78 households of elderly living alone and disabled people living alone.
The blanket washing service is part of the Gyeongnam-type integrated care project conducted over three years since 2020. It is a customized volunteer activity for care recipients such as elderly living alone and disabled people who have difficulty washing winter blankets due to physical or economic reasons.
An official from the city stated that after conducting a preliminary survey through community leaders such as neighborhood chiefs and care managers, the customized welfare team visited homes and selected 78 households as recipients.
The local neighborhood chiefs, called ‘Hongbanjang’ in charge, collect one to two winter blankets from each household, have them thoroughly cleaned at three local laundries, then deliver them back to the recipients while checking on their well-being.
Cha Woojeong, head of Dongseodong, expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the Hongbanjang and said, “We will do our best to ensure that all care recipients in our area can equally enjoy welfare services.”
