[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Amosense is showing strong performance. The news that LG Electronics will nurture the electric vehicle charging business as a next-generation growth engine appears to have influenced the stock price.
As of 11:08 AM on the 13th, Amosense is trading at 20,000 KRW, up 15.61% from the previous day.
On this day, a media outlet reported that LG Electronics has selected the electric vehicle charging business as its next-generation growth engine. LG Electronics is conducting research and development (R&D) on electric vehicle charging software, mechanical design, and platforms. It is known that the BS Business Division, which is in charge of business-to-business (B2B) operations, is currently recruiting experienced personnel in various fields related to the electric vehicle charging business. There are also expectations that synergy effects will be created through collaboration with group affiliates such as LG Energy Solution, which produces electric vehicle batteries, and LG Innotek, which supplies automotive parts and substrates.
Founded in 2008, Amosense is a company specialized in next-generation automotive electronics and Internet of Things (IoT) modules. It has secured proprietary sensor and circuit design technologies for core modules such as RF and radar modules used in automotive electronics including autonomous driving, various IoT applications, and 5G.
Amosense succeeded in commercializing the 'shielding sheet' for the first time in the world. In particular, it developed the original technology for shielding sheets used in wireless charging and supplies wireless charging antenna modules to Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, GN Audio, Google, and others.
The shielding sheet is a key material component that plays a role in maximizing the concentration of the magnetic field transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver in wireless chargers without leakage. It is a technology field that has been gaining attention recently as interest in wireless charging for electric vehicles grows.
The wireless charging market for electric vehicles is expected to grow rapidly. A ‘public wireless charging road’ that enables electric refueling while driving is planned to be established in Detroit, USA. The public road will be 1.6 km long and is scheduled for completion by 2023. The project is managed by Electreon Wireless, a startup company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. The project is supported by approximately 2.2 billion KRW in budget from the Michigan state government, investment funds raised by Electreon, and financial support from Ford Motor Company and the city of Detroit. This will create the first public wireless charging road in the United States in Detroit.
