[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Mandol Fishing Village in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, is attracting attention as it has been selected as a safe fishing village travel destination ideal for visiting in April.
According to the county on the 13th, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries recently selected Mandol Village in Simwon-myeon, Gochang-gun as the safe fishing village travel destination for April.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries selects and introduces fishing village experiences every month so that small groups such as families and relatives can easily visit.
Mandol Fishing Village offers a pristine natural environment where islands and mudflats harmonize, and experiences at the Gochang Mudflat, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, provide special memories.
While digging around the mudflats with hoes and hooks, round Dongjuk clams appear.
Also, at Myeongsasimni Beach and the mudflat observatory, visitors can feel the warm spring atmosphere. Mandol Village means "a place where a thousand chimneys rise in the village, bringing prosperity."
The sunset unfolding at dusk creates a magnificent scenery. Dongjuk clams, Manila clams, traditional seaweed, and solar salt are the main local specialties.
The county is also promoting the "Mandol Area Hub Development Project." This includes the construction of the Mandol Community Center, installation of landscape lighting at Wind Park, and the creation of a village ecological forest.
The landscape lighting at Wind Park, rooftop park, and sky ladder will be linked with nearby tourist facilities (mudflat experience center, mudflat botanical garden, etc.) to enrich the tourism resources of Simwon-myeon.
A county official said, "Gochang Mandol Village is a representative fishing village in Korea, with mudflats, salt fields, and sandy beaches right at its doorstep, overflowing with diverse and abundant food and attractions. We hope families visit in spring to enjoy the beautiful and cozy nature."
