KT Launches Enterprise 5G 'Speed Selection' Add-on Service

Control speed increased up to 20Mbps even after data depletion

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] KT announced on the 13th that it has launched a corporate-exclusive ‘Speed Selection’ add-on service for business (B2B) customers subscribed to its corporate-exclusive 5th generation (5G) service.

The corporate-exclusive 5G ‘Speed Selection’ add-on service features an increase in the speed, which is controlled to 3Mbps after the data limit (300GB~200TB) provided by the corporate-exclusive 5G plan is exhausted, up to a maximum of 20Mbps. Speeds of 10~20Mbps are sufficient to watch YouTube 1080P high-definition videos without buffering or quality degradation. Generally, a speed of 5Mbps or higher is required to smoothly watch YouTube 1080P high-definition videos.

The ‘Speed Selection’ add-on service is composed of two types according to the controlled speed: ‘Corporate 5G Add-on Save’ and ‘Corporate 5G Add-on Free.’ ‘Corporate 5G Add-on Save’ allows unlimited data usage at speeds up to 10Mbps for a monthly fee of 19,800 KRW. The ‘Corporate 5G Add-on Free’ add-on service provides speeds up to 20Mbps and is available for a monthly fee of 24,200 KRW.

Until now, companies subscribed to corporate-exclusive 5G plans with lower data limits had no choice but to subscribe to expensive higher-tier plans to avoid speed control after exceeding their monthly data limit. However, by using the newly launched add-on service, they can use relatively faster speeds at a reasonable cost even after the data limit is exhausted.

The corporate-exclusive 5G service is a wireless communication service for B2B customers. When companies or public institutions subscribe to the service and their members subscribe to the Corporate 5G Basic or Slim plans, they can use the service without speed control within the data limit of the company’s subscribed plan. A web portal with management functions such as ‘Mobile Device Management’ (MDM) solutions for managing devices using corporate-exclusive 5G data, data usage statistics, IP management, and differential data allocation is also provided.
