Explosion sound "Pung!" in downtown... 40-year-old man urgently arrested for installing and detonating homemade wireless explosive device

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] A man in his 40s, Mr. A, was urgently arrested on suspicion of installing and detonating an improvised explosive device in an alleyway in Dongnae-gu, Busan.

The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency stated that on the 11th at 7:54 PM, they responded to a report from a passerby who heard a "bang" sound while passing through the alley.

Upon arrival, the police found remnants of the improvised explosive device installed inside a traffic cone at the scene and requested the Special Operations Team (EOD) to respond.

The Special Operations Team confirmed through analysis that it was a wirelessly operated improvised explosive device. Reviewing nearby CCTV footage, they identified Mr. A installing the device inside the traffic cone and remotely detonating it near the scene.

The police urgently arrested Mr. A at his residence around 1 AM on the 12th on charges of detonating an explosive device.

A police official stated, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant and are investigating the motive behind the crime."
