[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Lee Eunhae (31), who is publicly wanted as a suspect in the so-called 'Valley Murder Case,' is reported to have sent a text message to a friend before fleeing, saying "I think I will be arrested."
On the 11th, TV Chosun and others reported that Lee Eunhae sent a message saying "I think I will be arrested" to her friend A on December 14 last year, just before the second prosecution investigation with accomplice Jo Hyunsoo (30), and then disappeared.
According to the report, the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office questioned Lee during the first investigation about the fact that after poisoning her husband with pufferfish toxin in 2019, she said in a Telegram conversation with Jo, "I put this much pufferfish skin in, so why isn't he dead?" It is said that they even presented evidence of the crime. Judging that they could no longer escape the investigation net, Lee and Jo apparently fled immediately.
Friend A is reported to have testified in a recent police investigation that "after receiving the message, I tried to contact Lee, but the connection was cut off."
Lee and Jo are suspected of murdering Lee's husband Yoon (39 at the time of death) on June 30, 2019, at Yongso Valley in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province. The prosecution believes that they forced Yoon, who could not swim at all, to dive and did not rescue him, resulting in his death.
They are also suspected of attempting to kill Yoon by feeding him food mixed with pufferfish skin at a pension in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province, in February 2019, and by drowning him at a fishing spot in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province, in May of the same year, which failed. The prosecution believes that Lee killed her husband aiming for the 800 million won life insurance money under his name.
They disappeared after the first prosecution investigation on December 13 last year and have been missing for four months. Accordingly, the prosecution switched to a public wanted status on the 30th of last month but has not yet apprehended them.
Meanwhile, experts have expressed opinions that Lee shows psychopathic (antisocial personality disorder) tendencies.
Professor Lee Sujeong of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University analyzed the video footage of the scene where Yoon died on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyunjung's News Show' and said, "Only Lee's voice is heard in the video, but her emotions can be read. From Lee's reactions, there is no empathy at all."
She added, "Her husband is in a very difficult situation caused by the other men, right? This kind of giggling laughter that does not empathize well with fear, or does not feel fear well. This is read as the dominant emotion."
Professor Lee said, "I think she is a psychopath. Of course, it will be necessary to properly arrest and examine her to know for sure, but based on the information coming out now, she does not have emotional experiences within the normal range."
