[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KCC has launched 'ChemMask 1100,' a plant coating boasting excellent chemical resistance.
Recently released by KCC, ChemMask 1100 is a plant coating applied to power plants, petrochemical facilities, and various equipment, characterized by outstanding chemical resistance. Based on its high chemical resistance, it prevents corrosion of various facilities, maintaining their shape and performance stably.
ChemMask 1100 also offers excellent workability. It can be applied using an airless spray method, enabling fast application speed, and has various substrate adhesions, allowing it to be applied directly to concrete as well as steel without a separate primer for concrete.
As a solvent-free epoxy coating, environmental considerations were also important. Epoxy coatings using organic solvent thinners emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs react with sunlight in the atmosphere, causing photochemical smog and polluting the air. ChemMask 1100 does not use organic solvents like thinners, minimizing environmental damage.
A KCC official stated, "ChemMask 1100 is a high-performance plant coating with excellent chemical resistance, applied to facilities such as nuclear power plants, thermal power plants, and chemical storage rooms within chemical facilities to protect and maintain performance." He added, "Since coatings are products that impact the environment, we will continue to promote eco-friendly ESG management activities and product development along with excellent performance."
