[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol visited Gumi, Gyeongbuk, on the 11th as part of his tour of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, stating, "Unnecessary regulations, whether from the central or local governments, must be completely eliminated."

During his visit to the Gumi National Industrial Complex in Gyeongbuk, President-elect Yoon said, "That's the way to do business. Who would bring money and start a company when officials just sit and argue?"

After inspecting the site, President-elect Yoon emphasized, "Shouldn't a more upgraded and advanced ecosystem for small and medium-sized enterprises be created in Gumi compared to the past?" He added, "We need to carefully consider the reasons why large corporations that were here moved their factories overseas, and I will also make great efforts and provide financial support for building the necessary infrastructure so that companies can come back here."

He continued, "I will do my best to revitalize the local economy by encouraging companies themselves to settle in the industrial complex area of Gumi, bringing good companies into the 50,000-pyeong (approximately 165,289 square meters) abandoned factory site."
