[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Chonnam National University Museum will hold the solo exhibition "April's Bookstore" by artist Park Da-hyun from the 12th of this month to the 4th of next month in the second-floor special exhibition hall of the University History Hall.
The Chonnam National University Museum conducted a public contest last year to discover and support creative and innovative artists and exhibition planners. Among the 11 selected artists and planners, starting with artist Park Da-hyun, solo exhibitions will be held until early February next year.
Artist Park adds a young and fresh sensibility to everyday objects around her, blending them into a Korean-style painting. Inspired by the traditional Korean genre of Chaekgado (bookshelves with books and various objects), she depicts books along with tumblers, shoes, cosmetics, and more, revealing the desires and wishes of modern people.
The vivid colors and maximalist arrangement of the props in her works, combined with the subtle traditional colors and gentle fragrances that appear unexpectedly, create a delicate composition. This showcases the artist's wit and offers a glimpse into the facets of contemporary Korean painting.
Director Jeong Geum-hee of the museum said, "Through this exhibition, I hope people warm their hearts with these warm works and find an opportunity to enjoy the leisure of reading a book under the spring sunlight."
