Changwon Citizens' Protectors 'New Firefighting Officers' Appointment Ceremony ... "We Will Rush Anywhere!"

The appointment ceremony for new firefighters in Changwon City for the first half of 2022 was held.

This is part of a poem titled "Firefighter's Prayer," written by a firefighter named A.W. Smokey Linn in 1958.

No one is unafraid of the blazing red flames and collapsing buildings, but firefighters are those who overcome even that fear and rush in to save someone's life.

On the morning of the 11th, a ceremony for the appointment of new firefighters who will strive for the lives of Changwon citizens was held in the 3rd conference room of Changwon City Hall.

Thirty-six new firefighters are reciting the oath.

The 36 newly appointed firefighters received their appointment certificates and solemnly read the oath, firmly pledging themselves as firefighters.

Firefighters are special national public officials who perform fire suppression and rescue activities during disasters and emergencies, and are divided into fire suppression personnel, rescue personnel, and emergency medical personnel according to their roles.

The newly appointed firefighters include 23 general, 4 rescue, 6 emergency medical, 1 from fire-related departments, 1 navigator, and 1 chemistry specialist.

They passed last year's firefighter recruitment exam, completed 15 weeks of training at the Central Fire Academy, and after 4 weeks of practical training, they are scheduled to be assigned to the field.

Go Hae-chan, representative of the new firefighters, said, “I will do my best to run wherever citizens are for the safety of Changwon citizens.”

Mayor Heo Seong-mu said, “Congratulations on becoming firefighters. I believe you will do your utmost to protect the lives and property of citizens anytime and anywhere.”
