[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Shinsegae Food announced on the 11th that it showcased dishes using ham made from alternative meat at the Seoul City Hall cafeteria.
The product introduced by Shinsegae Food was a sandwich containing cold-cut sliced ham from 'Better Meat,' which was served to about 1,700 Seoul city employees on the 8th. Promotional materials reflecting the commitment of Seoul City and Shinsegae Food to climate and environmental response were also installed in the cafeteria.
Since launching the alternative meat brand Better Meat in July last year, Shinsegae Food has collaborated with various companies such as Starbucks, Westin Chosun Hotel, SK Telecom, and Audi to introduce alternative meat to consumers. In particular, Better Meat actively promotes the three major social values it pursues: human health, animal welfare, and the global environment.
A Shinsegae Food official said, “Recently, there have been continuous requests from companies and organizations that empathize with the social values pursued by alternative meat and want to participate together. We will develop new products so that consumers who seek value consumption can experience alternative meat in more diverse ways, and strive to fulfill the company's social role through ESG management.”
