"12 Years of Outdated Leadership, I Will Change Kimhae Local Power" ... Hong Taeyong, People Power Party Kimhae Mayoral Pre-candidate, Announces 5 Key Pledges Hong Tae-yong, preliminary candidate for mayor of Gimhae, People Power Party.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hong Tae-yong, the People Power Party Gimhae Gap District Committee Chairman and a preliminary candidate for the Gimhae mayoral election, is cultivating his voter base by announcing key pledges.

Preliminary candidate Hong Tae-yong, a medical professional turned politician, has been active in party politics since 2010, challenging metropolitan councils and the National Assembly.

On the 9th, Hong revealed five core pledges, courting voters ahead of the nationwide simultaneous local elections set to take place in about 50 days.

First, he pledged to establish the ‘Gimhae Public Medical Center,’ a premium public medical facility in eastern Gyeongnam.

Hong said, “Everyone has felt the importance of public medical facilities over the past two years swept by the pandemic,” and promised, “We will definitely create a core platform for high-quality medical services for the 540,000 citizens of Gimhae.”

Secondly, he announced plans to “develop a smart logistics complex as a hub for the Northeast Asian logistics industry.”

He explained, “Gimhae is located at the tri-port hub of airport, port, and railway,” and pledged, “We will closely collaborate with local universities and companies to build a future-oriented smart logistics system, cluster smart integrated logistics industries, and develop Gimhae as a logistics hub in Northeast Asia to prepare for the next 100 years of economic growth.”

For his third pledge, Hong stated, “We will expedite the construction of a metropolitan city railway network to grow Gimhae into a key city of the Southeast Mega City and foster it as a future green transportation leading city by installing eco-friendly trams.”

The fourth pledge focused on innovation in ‘space’ and ‘education.’

He announced, “We will establish Station-G and Station-L in each zone as shared spaces for Gimhae’s youth and learning and play spaces for infants and mothers.”

In his fifth pledge, Hong promised the “creation of the Gimhae-style 10-minute smart innovation city (G10 Smart City Project) and the attraction of the Southeast Mega City Special Union Office.”

He said, “We will create a future-leading city featuring an innovative shared campus town, cutting-edge research facilities, education special zones, eco-friendly smart villages, women-friendly housing, linear green corridors and central plazas, and the demonstration of innovative mobility technologies.”

Hong Tae-yong criticized the current crisis facing Gimhae as a result of outdated leadership, pointing to the 12 years of local power held by the Democratic Party in Gimhae.

He sharply criticized, “It is the result of political leadership that refuses communication with local residents and blindly follows central authority’s orders.”

At the end of his pledge announcement, Hong emphasized that it is time for Gimhae to change.

He appealed to engage in passionate communication to create a happy city where the dreams felt by Gimhae citizens come true.
